Alton Memorial Hospital is now offering a full range of urological services to the community with the addition of two urologists from Washington University Physicians of Illinois Inc.
The practice opened in February and is located in Medical Office Building A, Suite 205, on the AMH campus. Please call 618-463-7174 to schedule an appointment.
Arjun Sivaraman, MD, will be the physician on campus most of the time. He completed a fellowship in urologic oncology at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City, a fellowship in robotic urologic surgery in Paris, and a urology residency at St. John’s Medical College in India. He is also a member of the American Urology Association.
“We as team from Washington University are very excited to start urology practice in Alton,” Dr. Sivaraman said. “We are offering consultation for all urological diseases. I try to focus my clinical practice in cancer treatment in addition to general urology. We have a convenient referral system within our group and can easily refer to experts for care. We strive to provide a high standard of care to Alton and surrounding communities on par with any of the major medical centers across the country.”
Dr. Sivaraman knows the importance of quality health care in smaller communities.
“Urology offers a good combination of medical and surgical management, and numerous research opportunities,” he said. “I chose urologic oncology as my specialty because of the complexity of clinical care, research opportunities and the positive impact in the life of patients we treat.
Physicians who inspired me were balancing the reality of science and humanity, and constantly striving to better the clinical care they provide to their patients. Medicine as a profession validated several of my passions.”
The practice will be under the leadership of Gerald Andriole Jr., MD, board-certified urologist. Dr. Andriole is chief of Washington University Urology. He completed a fellowship at the National Cancer Institute in Rockville, Md., a urology residency at Harvard Medical School and a surgery residency at University of Rochester in Rochester, NY. He is a member of the American Urology Association.
